General Information:

Drinking water and plumbing: The cottages have recently switched to city water, so both cottages have safe drinking water and excellent pressure. They both have had new septic systems installed within the past 5 years.

Child-proofing and Handicap Accessability: The cottages are not child-proofed, or handicap accessable. Please check under the sink and in all rooms to insure your child's safety. If one is using the wood stoves or bath tub/showers adult supervision of young children is essential.

Beach: Our beach is gently sloping, with a mixture of sand and pebbles, but adult supervision of children at all times is a must. The seawall varies in height each year, but averages 4-6 feet. We are fortunate not to have the very large rocks that are a problem in some areas for swimming. Life preservers or arm bands are nice for the non-swimmer crowd. Undertows can be a factor during rough weather. There are 2 sets of ten steps each to the beach. There is a second sand bar fifty feet out in the lake (waist high for adults).

Fireplace and woodstove: We do not supply wood, but you may bring or buy wood. The Seadog has a Lopi fireplace insert with glass doors, and the Nymph has a small Jotul woodstove with glass doors. They both provide ample heat even with snow on the ground. The Seadog can handle an 18" logs and the Nymph can handle 16". Many local people and party stores and gas stations sell bundles of wood at fairly reasonable rates. Even Home Depot sells "camp wood" packs.

Heat: The Nymph has an electric baseboard heating system which works as well as a furnace, and the Seadog has a fireplace insert, and two small electric space heaters. Thus the Seadog relies primarily on wood heat.

Cooling: The Nymph and Seadog both have Air Conditioning (non- central) as well as ceiling fans. The Seadog has four ceiling fans. I find that the A/C seldom has to be used due to the excellent cross venilation, shade, and cooling lake breezes, especially at night. But it's nice to have when you absolutely need it!

Bonfire and BBQ's: Everyone enjoys a bonfire on the beach. Both cottages have a charcoal grill that should stay on the cement slab or patio where it is located. Please make sure everything is completely out when you are finished if you have a bonfire in the firepit. Sand will not completely douse coals, plan on using water.

Security and Safety: The cottages have smoke detectors, and locks, but we cannot be responsible for accidents or other unforseen occurances. They are not child-proofed or handicap accessible.

Cleanliness: Guests are expected to leave the cottages as clean as they find them, and we also employ a professional cleaner who comes in each week. The cleanliness of our cottages is guaranteeed. Also available and new, the popular "we clean" option. For $75 we will clean the cottage for our guests who are unable or do not wish to clean on vacation. We will need to know beforehand and checkout is shortened to 10 a.m. Trash and food clean-up not included.

Chamber and Business Association Membership: We have been members of the Croswell/Lexington Chamber since 1995, and also members of the Lexington Business Association. Our goal is to provide a quality vacation spot to our guests at a reasonable price, which probably accounts for our many repeat rentals, and early bookings each year.
